What we collect, why we collect it, and how to control it.
The short version. You can read every guide on this site without giving us anything. We only receive personal information if you choose to send us a message. We show third-party advertising, and those advertisers may use cookies — you can opt out of personalised ads using the links below.
1. Who we are
TwoWheelGuide publishes free cycling guides. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the data controller for this website. Contact us at privacy@twowheelguide.com or through our contact page.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
If you use our contact form or email us, we receive the information you choose to send: your name, email address, the topic you selected, and the content of your message. We use it solely to reply to you.
Information collected automatically
- Your IP address, in truncated or anonymised form where possible
- Your browser type, operating system and screen size
- Which pages you viewed, in what order, and how long you spent
- The site or search engine that referred you
- The approximate region you're visiting from — country and city level, never precise
What we never collect
- Payment details — we sell nothing, so we never ask
- Passwords or login details — there are no accounts on this site
- Special category data such as health, religious or political information
- Information from children. This site isn't directed at under-13s

- Maintain security and stability, including preventing spam and abuse
- Display advertising, which funds the site
- Meet our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we never have.

6. Analytics
We use analytics to understand aggregate reader behaviour. We don’t attempt to identify individual readers, and we don’t combine analytics data with anything you send through the contact form.
7. How long we keep information
- Contact form messages — up to 24 months, then deleted
- Analytics data — aggregate form, up to 26 months
- Server logs — typically up to 90 days for security

You have the right to know what is collected and how it’s used, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information as defined under California law.
How to exercise these rights
Email privacy@twowheelguide.com. We respond within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm your identity first.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including serving the site over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please don’t send sensitive personal information through the contact form.
10. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date above. Substantial changes will be flagged clearly rather than made quietly.
